CORE
In collaboration with Abigail Ozora Simpson, Grace Beckwith, Polina Annikova and Will Tooze .
The CORE campaign stands for Confront, Overcome, Reform and Empowerment. This is not just a campaign - it is a movement. A movement to challenge harmful norms around violence against women and girls, empower survivors and push for real change.
Rather than just trying to raise awareness, CORE has created a symbol that will demand recognition. A powerful, thought provoking object that can be placed in public spaces. The current symbol for violence against women is the white ribbon, it is not a universally recognised symbol, so CORE set out to create a new one.
The apple, a symbol loaded with meaning, became our statement, redefined through art and activism. It carries deep cultural and historical significance, from Eve’s temptation to its connection with femininity. A simple, recognisable object can hold multiple layers of meaning, allowing people to form their own interpretations .
